Faith Statement Summary
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word to people, and is the only authoritative source of all that we believe. This statement is a simplified list of those truths that we agree are essential, and does not pretend to be exhaustive.
We believe that the Scriptures (our Old and New Testaments) are the divinely revealed truths of God and were communicated without error in the originals. They contain all we need to know God and to live a life pleasing to Him.
We believe God is One being who has always existed in Three Persons; the Trinity. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all equal in nature, in power and worthiness for worship and are distinct personalities.
We believe that human beings are created by God to reflect who He is, but that Adam’s disobedience to God caused our entire race to fall into sin. We have each inherited a tendency to reject God’s way and pursue our own. This rebellion results in both physical death and the condition of spiritual death which is separation from God.
We believe that God the Father is the first person of the Trinity, and is King over all. He is the person who plans and directs the works of the Son and Spirit.
We believe that Christ is the Son, the second person of the Trinity. He has always existed as God, and at just the right time, He voluntarily took on full humanity and was born of the virgin Mary as Jesus Christ. Though He had committed not one sin, He died in our place, for our sin, accepting the consequences, in order to free us from our spiritual guilt, so that God the Father might approve of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He works in the world to convict people of sin and call them to faith in Christ. He causes spiritual life to begin in those who put faith in Christ. The Holy Spirit baptizes each believer in Christ at the moment of faith. Each Christian is to be filled with the Holy Spirit, which is remaining in a right relationship with Him and under His direction.
We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s kindness (grace) to people. It is received by repenting of one’s sin, believing in Jesus who died in our place and putting one’s faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. It is not the result of any work we might do, it is a work Christ did for us, in our place.
We believe that all who have put their faith in Jesus since His resurrection, are part of His Church. We believe that every Christian must associate with a local church for the purposes of Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship and Ministry.
We believe that Satan is a created being that seeks to oppose God through deception and accusation, but that his fate has already been sealed by God.
We believe that Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly, as Scripture predicts.
We believe that all Christians have an obligation to live in a way that brings honor to Christ. Every Christian is a witness to share the Good News of Jesus. Each Christian has an obligation to support God’s work in prayer, with finances and through personal service.
We believe that each Christian will consciously enter the presence of the Lord in heaven at the moment of death, and one day receive a resurrected body. We also believe that fate of unbelievers is conscious judgment forever in Hell.
We believe Jesus instituted two ordinances for His church:
- Baptism ― as an outward identification with Christ for everyone who has already inwardly and spiritually identified with Him by faith.
- Communion ― as a time of remembrance as celebrate Christ’s sacrifice in our place using the symbols of bread and juice to represent His body and blood. This celebration is for all believers in fellowship with Christ.
